The Texas Music Museum in East Austin seeks a larger space to accommodate its extensive collection of music memorabilia, including jazz, blues, Tejano, gospel, and country artefacts. Currently occupying a 2,000-square-foot area, with additional storage borrowed from the police department, the museum needs about 15,000 square feet to display and store its items properly. The estimated cost for the new space is $330,000. Museum leaders are engaging with the city for support and are considering a redevelopment project on East 11th Street.
