The Library of Congress is the nation’s oldest federal cultural institution and serves as the research arm of Congress. It is also the largest library in the world, with over 158 million books, recordings, photographs, maps, films and video, sheet music, sound recordings, and manuscripts in its collections. They are now seeking a contractor to provide acid-free collections boxes.

The Library of Congress Collections Management Division (CMD) requires contract support to manufacture boxes.
The Collections Management Division (CMD) requires the fabrication and timely delivery of lidded boxes manufactured of acid free /lignin free Corrugated B-Flute board which will hold approximately 18 inches of upright books for long term storage. LC stores books in an environmentally controlled, high density, off-site storage facility similar to other library storage facilities. The books to be boxed are from collections still in use; therefore, the storage boxes will be in active use for retrieving and returning books. The boxes will be stored, one high, on shelves and will not be stacked when loaded.
