Fort Donelson National Battlefield preserves Fort Donelson and Fort Heiman, two sites of the American Civil War Forts Henry and Donelson Campaign, in which Union Army Brigadier General Ulysses S. Grant and Flag Officer Andrew Hull Foote captured three Confederate forts and opened two rivers, the Tennessee River and the Cumberland River, to control by the Union Navy. The National Park Service, who care for the site, were seeking contractors to undertake Rehabilitation Works at the Visitor Center. The successful contractor is GWWO Inc.

This requirement is for architect and engineering services to correct a design previously performed by GWWO, Inc. by developing revised plans and specifications, in order to bring the Visitor Center into compliance with Quality Assurance (QA) comments and all appropriate codes, including fire egress, provide accessibility to all three (3) levels; and improve energy efficiency and sustainability. Specifically, to correct physical and programmatic deficiencies, bring the building into compliance with critical accessibility and safety standards, such as an elevator to provide access to all levels; making restrooms accessible; upgrading HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and security systems; as well as to correct structural issues, such as new roofing and windows.
