SUMMARY
The Mennello Museum of American Art in Orlando, Florida, is embarking on a $20 million expansion project. The plan will mix spacious, naturally-lit indoor exhibition rooms with terraces, covered outdoor spaces, open concourses and pathways connecting them with the green and lakeside surroundings of Lake Formosa. The museum has enlisted architects Brooks + Scarpa & KMF Architects as the design team for the 40,000 square-foot museum expansion. The new structure will be integrated with the existing 12,000 square-foot museum building. Once complete, visitors will be able to enjoy indoor and outdoor multipurpose spaces, designed for events such as weddings, educational visits and conferences. In April 2024, a community presentation revealed that the project would dedicate new spaces to classrooms, art studios and meeting room. The expansion will also feature a sculpture garden for visitors to explore. No completion date has yet been announced; however, after delays due to the COVID pandemic, it is hoped that the project will break ground by the end of 2026. (Updated 25 May 2024)
