WetlandsThe Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust is now seeking a Senior Interpretation Designer to join their team through June 2017 on a fixed term contract to work on the detailed design of their round two bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund.  The post pays £27,500 per year and will be based at their centre in Gloucestershire.

Wetlands are essential for life. The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) creates and protects wetland habitats to provide water, food and shelter for people and wildlife. We save species around the world from extinction; our nine UK wetland centres and an additional working wetland site inspire thousands of visitors to enjoy being close to nature.

WWT has successfully secured Round One funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for the Peter Scott Living Legacy project. This is the first stage of an ambitious £6 million project which will transform Slimbridge Wetland Centre into the twenty-first century blueprint for conservation education. The Senior Interpretation Designer role is an exciting opportunity to lead on the detailed interpretative design of a wide range of conservation and heritage projects that form the Peter Scott Trail and Scott Wildlife Trail for a successful Round Two HLF application in June 2017.

You will be highly creative with substantial experience in interpretation design and planning for heritage and conservation/live exhibits. Ideally you will already have experience of HLF projects. You will have excellent ability to design high quality and engaging interpretation exhibits and visualisations particularly with an eye for 3D spaces as well as interpersonal and coordination skills. You will have extensive knowledge of applying a wide range of media to maximise visitor engagement. You will be comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.

This post is initially on a fixed term contract until June 2017 with further opportunities during the three year delivery phase for the right candidate.

In return for your hard work and dedication you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing to 30 days after 5 years service)
