Aquarium 263x108The German Oceanographic Museum in Stralsund, Germany, is located in the hall of the former St. Catherine's Church and is now home to just under 50 aquaria containing more than 600 living sea creatures. Alongside the shark tank and turtle pool, the museum also houses the world's largest exhibition on whales including a 15 metre long whale skeleton. They have been advertising a design contest for the modernisation and renovation of their museum which still preserves the medieval monastery building of the former church. The successful contractors are Reichel Schlaier Architekten GmbH and Trapez Architektur GmbH mit CEBRA Architecture. The total contest award value is 48,750€.
