They are now seeking a senior 3D designer and a senior graphic designer.
Senior 3D Designer
£35 - £45k*
We are recruiting for an exceptional and experienced 3D Interpretive Designer who can create beautiful visitor environments that engage the heart and the head, to tell the wonderful stories within our heritage. Designs that work hard for a living and balance true creative engagement with real-world practicality.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide concept structural and spatial designs in response to a client brief
- Understand interpretive design and tell stories through structure and space
- Work up all stages of design, including CAD construction drawings to RIBA standard.
- Design to a budget using best practice considerations
- Work seamlessly with other disciplines (graphic, interactive, audio-visual, lighting, artefact display etc)
- Demonstrate an understanding of visitor journey and experiential design
- Brief fabricators and fit-out specialists
- Work under pressure to tight deadlines
- Ability to take feedback and direction positively
- Client facing and capable in an interview/presentation setting
- To work as part of a creative team and self-manage time versus output effectively
- Preparation and presentation of design proposals to internal and client teams
- Associated project admin
- Generation of concept work to support the tender and new business processes
Must have skills:
- AutoCAD or mac-based equivalent
- SketchUp or equivalent
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Hand drawing ability to communicate ideas quickly and effectively
- Excellent communication
The ideal candidate will have:
- A genuine interest and experience of design for the museum and heritage sector
- Fully compliant in all current accessibility and H&S standards
- More than 5 years' experience in the industry
All applicants must be prepared to work from our Huddersfield offices on a regular basis, but with the option to work from home when appropriate (to be agreed subject to job offer). Applicants must also be prepared to travel for meetings and work away from home during installation periods.

- Understand interpretive design and tell stories via environmental graphic design
- Produce visuals to explain a design approach
- Design to a budget using best practice considerations
- Work seamlessly with other disciplines (3D, interactive, audio-visual, lighting, artefact display etc)
- Demonstrate an understanding of visitor journey
- Brief production and manufacture on specification and print requirements
- Work under pressure to tight deadlines
- Ability to take feedback and direction positively
- Client facing and capable in an interview/presentation setting
- To work as part of a creative team and self-manage time versus output effectively
- Sourcing and procuring images
- Sourcing and briefing illustrators
- Preparing print-ready artwork for production
- Generation of concept work to support the tender and new business processes
Must have skills:
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Hand drawing ability to communicate ideas quickly and effectively
- Excellent communication
The ideal candidate will have:
- A genuine interest and experience of design for the museum and heritage sector
- Good understanding of print and production processes and specifications
- Fully compliant in all current accessibility standards
- More than 5 years' experience in the industry
