Copenhagen-based exhibition design studio Kvorning Design & Communication have been announced as the winner of the international competition at the Whaling Museum in Sandefjord in Norway. Located about 100 miles southwest of Oslo, it is Europe’s only museum of whales and whaling.
Kvorning will provide exhibition design and build services for a new exhibition about Norway’s first oil adventure -- whale oil. The story will be told through a variety of media including lighting and projections using the museum's huge collection of film and visual material, as well as models of whaling ships and other vessels.
Museum Director Dag Ingemar Børresen, said, “Kvorning Design & Communication was chosen as exhibition designer due to the company’s broad experience within turnkey exhibitions. Experience, competences and understanding of the museum needs combined with an attractive concept were important criteria that were met during the tender competition. The Whaling Museum looks forward to co-operating with Kvorning on this new and exciting exhibition.”
