Benchworks is a specialist interior contractor with extensive experience in the Museum & Heritage and retail and commercial sectors. They are now seeking an Estimator/Quantity Surveyor with relevant industry experience and a minimum of 5 years’ experience estimating.
The Requirement:
Benchworks require an experienced Estimator/Quantity Surveyor with relevant fit-out/installation industry experience preferably in both the Museum & Heritage and Commercial & Retail sectors. The successful candidate will need to be able to hit the ground running and take on a busy and complex workload with minimal supervision.
The candidate will need to be enthusiastic and talented, be able to show initiative and be willing to go the extra mile to make good outcomes exceptional. An excellent communicator, they will need to be able to talk as well as listen, not only to colleagues but a broad range of high profile clients. They need to be passionate about detail, have an eye for design and a real understanding of manufacturing processes. In your role the successful candidate will:
• Take responsibility for the costing of projects from initial tender stage through to final account
• Quantify materials for tender purposes
• Communicate and brief specification to specialist suppliers
• Gather prices and lead time information from supplies and specialists
• Take part in site surveys, assist in measuring, issuing payment certificates, valuations, cost audit reports and variations
• Liaise with Production Manager on best production methods and written specifications for component parts
• Undertake general project administration to include printing and file keeping
• Supporting other project activities as requested by Project Manager/Director
To succeed with us the successful candidate will need:
• Relevant industry experience
• An excellent understanding of manufacturing
• Fantastic interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal
• Ability to read drawings
• Ability to produce detailed sketch type drawings
• Be process driven with excellent time management skills
• Strong Microsoft Office skills
• A methodical approach to work and an eye for detail
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Hold a full UK drivers licence
