Russian cosmonaut stamp Cosmonauts is the name of a major temporary exhibition on the history and current practice of Russian space exploration, which will take place at the Science Museum in London.  The museum is now seeking an internal project manager who will lead the museum team and manage outside consultants.  The 17 month fixed-term contract will pay between £35,000 and £45,000 per year.

The Science Museum’s ambition is to be the leading international museum championing the understanding, enjoyment and prestige of science in modern society. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the team delivering a major new temporary exhibition opening at the Museum in autumn 2014.

Cosmonauts will present - for the first time in the UK and beyond- the remarkable story of Russian space exploration. It will feature over 100 objects – from small personal items to craft that have returned from space - the vast majority on loan from a range of Russian institutions and companies.  The Science Museum are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual, with a confident understanding of delivering innovative exhibitions and associated programmes for non-specialist adult and family audiences. The candidate will have substantial experience of exhibition development and leading teams to deliver cultural products of the highest quality, including the management of designers and other consultants. You will have excellent communications skills and the ability to lead and develop teams of diverse expertise to negotiate the complexity of the international collaborations involved and to deliver this high profile, object-rich exhibition on time and budget. You will be a motivated self-starter, diplomatic and convincing with all stakeholders, able to provide clear vision and build an environment of responsibility and achievement. This role will be offered on a 17 month fixed-term contract. Please note that this post is subject to fundraising and approvals.

The post will pay £35,000 - £45,000 per annum.
